It is important to be clear what hiking materials you should take on the usual routes, the equipment, clothing, and food. If you are starting and familiarizing with hiking, the routes or excursions do not exceed more than 5 hours and never can last more than one day, and normally, they take place in the morning.
The less load you carry, the better. In longer routes or in winter outings, you have to load more, having to optimize the weight. Always have a:
- hydration system,
- utility knife,
- first aid kit,
- plastic bags and sealed for garbage,
- walking poles or sticks,
- thermal blanket,
- documentation of the route,
- laces or rope,
- compass, if you know how to use it.
Another things not so important but highly recommended are: maps of the area, water routes, GPS with battery charged, shovel, sunglasses, mobile photo camera, sunscreen, lip balm, documentation, cash, small towel, toilet paper, notepad, pencil, rubber and pen, binoculars, clothing (need according to the season or weather) technical footwear or huaraches, technical pants, breathable socks, technical shirt, outer jacket, cap.
Food for a diet that favors trekking, it is advised to raise carbohydrates slightly, and reduce fats and proteins in the days prior to the excursion. We recommend, if the checkout is in the morning, have good breakfast at home. For starters, it is true that you should not take anything very specific, but this is the best to perform this activity outdoors (non-copious meals and energy, ie, calories) like salami or sausage sandwiches, for example (although they cost more to digest) or as hot as potato omelet.
Fruit of great caloriccontribution, like bananas, nuts such as walnuts and hazelnuts, energy bars. Food with sugar as chocolate.
Drink Water at low tide (drink before you feel the sensation of thirst and with some frequency). At the moment, you already know to choose a route according to your state of form, to plan it and to organize it, and to load your backpack of material for hiking to go out to the mountain.
